David Clay Diaz was born in 1989 in Asuncion, Paraguay. He spent his early years in Lima, but soon afterwards followed his mother to Vienna. There, he studied philosophy and shot some short films before studying directing at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) in 2010. His graduation film “Agonie” – in which he acted as director, producer and writer all-in-one – celebrated its world premiere at the 66th Berlinale and was nominated for the “Best First Feature Award”. In autumn 2016, Zorro Film will bring “Agonie” to theatres. At the moment, he is working on his first feature film, “Gracias a la vida”, funded by the Screenwriters Forum Vienna (Drehbuchforum Wien). This project is being made as part of the First Movie Programme of the Bavarian Film Center and in collaboration with the Bavarian Broadcasting (Bayerischer Rundfunk) among others.
